Cheryl offers a variety of walking, running and triathlon training programs tailored to meet the needs of all fitness levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, whether you’re looking to improve your fitness level or achieve specific goals, whether you are recovering from injury or want to become more efficient, Pegasus Athletic Coaching has something for everyone.
Cheryl is a Physical Therapist and EMT who became a Triathlon Coach and then a ChiWalking and ChiRunning Instructor to combine her love of walking, running, and training with her understanding of body and gate mechanics and her desire to help and teach others.
Cheryl started running in her twenties to lose weight and set a goal to run the New York City Marathon. After shin splints pushed that goal out for a year, she began swimming for rehabilitation. A colleague suggested she take up Triathlon since she was already pursuing two of the three disciplines. Cheryl liked the idea of cross training to prevent injuries and slowly started on her triathlete journey; all the while realizing that running remains her first love.
Over the years, Cheryl has experienced a wide range of running related injuries, from plantar fasciitis and tear to stress fractures and tendonitis. At one point, she thought she would never be able to run pain-free again. She hired several coaches and explored a variety of self-care techniques and services. Finally, she read ChiRunning by Danny Dreyer and transformed her running as she started incorporating as many principles as possible. She took a private class with a ChiRunning Instructor and knew she wanted to deepen her knowledge and help others learn how to run with more efficiency, fewer injuries, and less pain!
Cheryl has triathlon racing experience ranging from Sprint to Ironman distances as well as countless running races from 5Ks to Marathons. She realized strength training was a key foundation to injury prevention and became a Certified TRX Instructor after personally experiencing the value and benefit of developing improved core strength.
Along her journey she found a new passion - helping athletes improve and achieve their own running and triathlon goals. Cheryl is dedicated to her own ongoing learning and finding the optimal way to share that knowledge and experience with those she coaches.
